Este sábado se hizo oficial que David González será el encargado de reemplazar a Alberto Gamero como entrenador de Millonarios. El ex técnico del Deportes Tolima asumirá el cargo tras llegar a la más reciente final de la Liga BetPlay.
Después de varios días de rumores sobre la llegada del joven entrenador, este 4 de enero se hizo oficial la contratación del exjugador de 42 años después de cinco años con Gamero al frente.
Junto a David González llegan a Millonarios Alexander Becerra como asistente técnico, Carlos Giraldo también como asistente, Nicolás Ramírez como preparador físico y Eduardo Niño como preparador de arqueros.
David González tiene un corto camino como director técnico, su primera oportunidad fue en 2022 cuando debutó con Independiente Medellín, club con el que llegó a la final frente al Deportivo Pereira, pero cayó en la tanda de penales.
Después del paso por el poderoso asumió las riendas del Deportes Tolima, donde también consiguió llegar a la final, esta vez frente a Atlético Nacional, siendo el verde paisa el ganador del título 2024-2.
En este 2025 Millonarios buscará el título de la Copa Sudamericana, torneo al que clasificó gracias a su posición en la tabla de reclasificación, pero para avanzar deberá primero conseguir el cupo enfrentando a Once Caldas en la fase previa.

A nivel personal, a nivel de mi carrera deportiva es poder llegar a la máxima expresión, al equipo donde quiero conseguir títulos y darle alegrías a la hinchada, estoy lleno de orgullo de poder estar acá y disfrutar de este gran equipo”, dijo González en su primera entrevista como técnico de Millonarios en propiedad.
