Nacional y Junior cuentan con una rivalidad que ha ido creciendo en los últimos años, ‘Verdolagas’ y ‘Tiburones’ han disputado tres emocionantes finales, todas definidas desde el punto penal, con un saldo de un título para los barranquilleros y dos para los antioqueños.
A lo largo de esta rivalidad, jugadores emblemáticos vistieron la camiseta de los dos equipos, siendo campeones con ambas escuadras, a continuación recordamos cinco de los más importantes:
Oswaldo Mackenzie
‘El nené’ fue campeón con Junior en 1993 y 1995, marcando aquel inolvidable tanto para la estrella del 93 ante el América; años más tarde dio la vuelta olímpica vestido de verde, otra vez con América como rival, venciendo desde el punto penal en 1999.
José Amaya
‘El Ringo’ conquistó cinco títulos entre Junior y Nacional. Fue uno de los jugadores emblemáticos de la escuadra barranquillera en la estrella de 2004-II, lograda precisamente ante Nacional. De ahí cambio de esquina para jugar de verde y celebrar los títulos de 2005-I, 2007-I y 2007-II. Volvió a jugar con el tiburón para ser campeón en 2011-II.
Macnelly Torres
Macnelly empezó muy joven por el Junior, lo que le dejó el título 2004-II, después de ello se fue al Cúcuta Deportivo y luego al Colo Colo de Chile, en ambos equipos fue campeón, volvió al país para vestirse de verde y celebrar cuatro títulos ligueros en distintos periodos, uno de ellos al cuadro ‘Tiburón’: 2011-1, 2013-I, 2015-II y 2017-I. Su logro más importante con Nacional fue sin duda la Copa Libertadores lograda en el 2016.
Román Torres
El defensa panameño Román Torres fue campeón por todos los equipos por donde pasó en el fútbol colombiano, por ende Junior y Nacional no fueron la excepción. En 2010-I celebró una estrella como ‘Tiburón’, para luego hacer lo propio en 2011-I, ahora como ‘Verdolaga’. En ambos equipos fue titular indiscutido.
Sherman Cárdenas
El jugador santandereano, al igual que muchos otros, festejó primero como ‘Tiburón’ antes de vestirse de verde. Sin ser un titular constante, pero aportando siempre que entró, Cárdenas logró con Junior el título del 2011-II. Con Nacional celebró tres títulos de Liga consecutivos: 2013-I, 2013-II y 2014-I.
